For several months I suffered from extreme pain in my lower back and left leg, which heavy pain medication did not relieve. Finally, a successful back operation resulted in temporary relief. A few weeks following the back operation I fell and broke my left leg. Also, there was spinal deterioration above the back operation site. Due to my age and poor health, another back operation was not feasible. After ten weeks in a leg cast the left leg pain became unbearable, despite very aggressive pain medication treatment. In desperation I came to Nexus Pain Care facility and after Dr. Robin Ockey performed the requisite testing and examination it was determined that the unbearable leg pain was due to failed back syndrome associated with lumbar radiculopathy and peripheral neuro pain. A temporary spinal cord stimulator was implanted in my back by Dr. Richard M. Rosenthal, with results monitored by Jerry Gagen. A few days of very reduced pain from the temporary stimulator implant indicated that a permanent stimulator would be effective. Dr. Rosenthal performed the permanent stimulator operation on 07/28/04.

I have enjoyed almost total pain relief in my left leg from the stimulator, coupled with decreasing pain medication. I am very pleased with the examination, diagnosis and treatment for my extreme pain by Doctors Rosenthal and Ockey and with the advanced technology of the neurostimulator.
