My name is Jim. I have been a patient at Nexus Pain Care for about three years. In 1996, my back just started hurting. At the time I was caring for my wife who was dying from cancer. Eventually I had surgery to relieve my pain for spinal stenoesis. It worked for about two years but then the pain started again.

I heard about Nexus Pain Care through a friend.

I saw Dr. Rosenthal and I had a radiofrequency treatment from that lasted about a year with no pain. Dr. Rosenthal referred me to another specialist who diagnosed me with CIDP and treats me for that. Dr. Rosenthal also referred me to Dr. Ockey, who recommended that I look into having a spinal cord stimulator implanted. I was tested for this and was found to be a good candidate for it. The spinal cord stimulator has markedly improved the control of my lower extremity pain. It has greatly reduced my dependency on drugs. I am currently working on weaning myself off of my pain medications. I have taught myself other methods that help me manage my pain. I also receive physical therapy twice a week to help build up my core muscles. I work out in water six days a week at a fitness center.

To those who are in pain, I would say simply that pain is hell. It destroys your life. It makes you not think straight. It makes you want to lie down and not move. Now my pain is almost fully under control. It is senseless to go around suffering. Some pain can be controlled by drugs, but that’s no way to live. Nexus Pain Care can help.
